Empowerment Center Director

Full-time, flexible hours

  • Must be willing to work flexible hours
  • Travel required (some overnights)

We are looking for a reliable person who is able to work independently, adhere to counseling ethics and maintain strict confidentiality. The Empowerment Center Director is responsible for the administration and direct services of the Empowerment Center, currently including Homeless and Homeless Prevention Services in Clinton and Jackson Counties in Iowa. Requirements include:

  • BA in Social Work, Human Services or related fields and/or experience.
  • Maintain Driver’s License
  • Maintain adequate Insurance
  • Criminal record check
  • Child Abuse record check
  • Grant writing, fundraising and fiscal management experience preferred

Front Desk Customer Service Associate

Part-time, flexible hours: 3-18 hours per week

  • Evenings and weekends required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age

We are looking for a dependable person with a positive attitude and great customer service skills to join our Front Desk team. Duties include but are not limited to greeting members, answering questions related to the facility and/or programs of the YWCA, answering the phone, retail sales and assisting with membership applications and swim lesson and fitness class registrations. The ideal candidate will enjoy a friendly working environment and facility membership. Lead Teacher - YWCA Children's Center

  • Full-time Position
  • Minimum of five year’s of experience. Preference will be given to applicant with CDA, AA, or higher in Early Childhood Development field.

2nd Shift Childcare Associate - YWCA Children's Center

Part-time openings for various age groups: Weekdays, 3:00pm – Midnight

YWCA Children’s Center~Come join our team! Associate Teachers assist the Lead Teacher in planning, organizing and implementing a preschool age classroom. Assist in meeting the physical, emotional, and creative needs of the children, and to assure his/her care and protection. With the Lead Teacher, Associate Teachers maintain DHS licensing standards and procedures. Help to maintain adequate records. A full job description will be available at time of interview. Lifeguards

Lifeguard position open for all shifts, especially early morning shifts and early afternoon shifts. Must have current lifeguard and CPR certification. Under the supervision of the Aquatic Director or other assigned staff, the lifeguard is responsible for the safety, cleanliness, and operation of the swimming pool during operating hours. The primary function of the lifeguard will be to safeguard the health and safety of YWCA members, class participants, and guests.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Reports to work a minimum of ten minutes prior to assigned shift in order to receive communications and instructions from supervisor or previous lifeguard.
  • Responsible for safety of all swimmers during shift and for the interpretation and enforcement of all pool rules.
  • Responsible for chemical reading of pool conditions according to bathing code. Adjusts pool as necessary.
  • Responsible for the upkeep of the pool area and equipment and notifying supervisor of any needed repairs or adjustments. May perform needed repairs as qualified.
  • Lifeguards must be sitting or standing during their entire shift of work. Exposure to some chemicals; hot humid environment

Fitness Instructors: Land and Water Classes

Part-Time: 1-5 hours / week
This is a part-time customer-facing role responsible for organizing and leading YWCA fitness classes, creating appropriate work-out regimes, instructing participants on proper and safe form, welcoming all guests/members to classes and positively representing the YWCA. Requires a short introductory training on SilverSneakers® fitness program and familiarity with class in question. In addition, applicant will require the ability to lead fitness classes, follow predetermined class format and/or create appropriate work-out regimes, instruct participants on proper and safe form per SilverSneakers® guidelines, welcome all guests/members to classes and positively represent the YWCA. Health & Wellness Internship

The YWCA-Clinton is offering a semester-long Health & Wellness Internship. This is an incredible opportunity for a self starter who wants to be part of a successful, growing mission-based organization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting the YWCA’s Health & Wellness Director. This position is non-paid and will allow the chosen individual to gain valuable experience in the field of Health & Wellness. Responsibilities will include attending/teaching fitness classes, auditing fitness classes, scheduling rooms, counting class participants, monitoring fitness center, inventorying equipment, marketing programs, running errands, assisting front desk staff as needed, and additional duties as assigned. A minimum of five hours a week commitment for a semester term is required. The formal structure of position will be determined by YWCA Health & Wellness Director based on applicant’s qualifications. Marketing Internship

The YWCA-Clinton is offering a semester-long Marketing Internship. This is an incredible opportunity for a self-starter who wants to be part of a successful, growing mission-based organization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting the YWCA’s Marketing Director. This position is non-paid and will allow the chosen individual to gain valuable experience in the field of Marketing. Responsibilities will include social media marketing, writing press releases, internal marketing (i.e. posters, table toppers, bulletin boards), website updates, maintaining email news database, developing marketing tools within new membership software, assisting front desk staff as needed, and additional duties as assigned. Computer experience is required, including knowledge of Word and the internet. Excellent writing skills are a plus. Experience with Publisher is preferred. A minimum of five hours a week commitment for a semester term is desired. Accounting Internship

The YWCA-Clinton is offering a semester-long Accounting Internship. This is an incredible opportunity for a self starter who wants to be part of a successful, growing mission-based organization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting the YWCA’s Accounting Director. This position is non-paid and will allow the chosen individual to gain valuable experience in the field of Accounting.

Responsibilities will include:

  • entering accounts payable invoices
  • preparing and mailing payments to vendors
  • maintaining general office files
  • performing asset inventory
  • reconciling bank statements and credit cards
  • other duties as assigned.

Computer experience is required, including knowledge of Excel. A minimum of five hours a week commitment for a semester term is required.
