Volunteer With The YWCA
Thank you for your interest in sharing your time and talents with the YWCA! Volunteers help us to fulfill the mission work of the YWCA, serving our community. We cannot do it alone, we greatly appreciate your time and consideration!
There are many opportunities to volunteer at the YWCA… from answering the phone, teaching a class, serving on a committee, working on a special event, to assisting in our Empowerment Center. Please see our listing of volunteer opportunities below.

Housing Services
Assist and support families and individuals experiencing homelessness by:
- become a committee member (Women’s Empowerment Committee)
- assemble participant packets
- assemble application packets
- sort / organize donations
- clean office
Front Desk
Assist YWCA patrons by helping with:
- class registration
- facility tours
- answering phones
- general clerical duties
Health & Wellness
Assist and support the fitness and wellness participants in the following ways:
- teaching classes
- helping with adult and children pool classes
- helping with special events and fundraisers
- maintenance and upkeep
- become a committee member
- swim coach during youth swim lessons
Youth
Assist with support and programming for school age children in the following ways:
- teach a class
- help with special events
- Summer Camp counselor
- help with program set up
- share a hobby/talent/skill
- chaperone on field trips
- become a committee member
Maintenance
Assist with the general appearance of the inside and outside of the YWCA facility by:
- painting
- lawn care/landscaping
- repairs
- housekeeping
Enrichment
Assist with programs that will enrich lives through:
- sharing a special talent you have
- special events/community events, e.g. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration, Peace Walk

Children’s Center
Assist with the support and care of children and their families through:
- rocking infants
- chaperone field trips
- assist staff with daily care of children
- special events/fundraisers

Marketing
Assist with the promotion and organization of YWCA programs and services
- computer work

- helping at events
Planning Committees
Oversees the youth and childcare programs and works with the department directors to set fees, determine policies and promote programs. Assists in marketing, fundraising efforts and community events.

Advocacy
– Meets 2nd Tuesday of the month at Noon
(Staff Liaison: Empowerment Center Director) Responsible for developing programs which address the YWCA mission: empowering women. Also provides support for the programs of the Empowerment Center. Plans, interprets, and evaluates a variety of services to meet the special needs of women.

– Meets 1st Thursday of the month at Noon
(Staff Liaison: Marketing Director) Responsible for developing programs which address the YWCA mission: eliminating racism.

(Staff Liaison: Development Director) Responsible for planning of the Signature Fundraiser; attending event, assisting with decorations and set up, selling tickets.

Plans and coordinates the annual Woman of Achievement nomination process, voting procedures, honorees and banquet details. Must be a former WOA honoree to sit on committee.
(Staff Liaison: Health & Wellness Director)
Works with Health & Wellness Director. Responsible for seasonal promotions, and fitness specific fundraisers. Discuss new trends and ways to implement them.
(Staff Liaison/Chair: Senior Services Coordinator (No Board Chair)
Works with Senior Services Coordinator. Responsible for senior-specific seasonal promotions and social events.
