We know that in order to inspire leadership in young girls, we must give a platform to women leaders. That is why each year, YWCA Clinton hosts the Woman of Achievement Event to honor all the outstanding women and girls that make up our community.

Kaylee Moeller

Kaylee Moeller - Young Woman of Achievement

POSITIVE, COMPASSIONATE, & DILIGENT

Young Woman of Achievement

Kaylee, a Clinton High senior, is a force for positive change. Balancing a full academic and extracurricular life with employment, she also dedicates herself to community service through the CCSD Synergy initiative. She’s involved in volleyball, tennis, orchestra, and the National Honor Society. Kaylee was named CHS Boosters and Candlelight Inn Fine Arts Student of the Month in December 2024. Her compassion shines through her ambitious projects, like establishing a local Pink Heals chapter to support cancer patients, and organizing a book drive for elementary students, ensuring summer reading access for all. Kaylee's "vibe" radiates a genuine passion for helping others, driven by the belief that every act of kindness matters. Her diligence, intelligence, and collaborative spirit make her a natural leader, inspiring others to follow her example. She works seamlessly with peers and adults, demonstrating a commitment to progress. Kaylee plans to attend the University of Iowa to study forensic psychology this fall. Her dedication to service, combined with her innate kindness and leadership, makes her an exceptional young woman, embodying the YWCA's mission to empower our future female leaders.

Mary Jo Nier

Mary Jo Nier - Professional Woman of Achievement

TRANSFORMATIVE, COMMITTED & LIFE-CHANGING

Professional Woman of Achievement

Mary Jo Nier, a transformative educator, is Lead Teacher for Clinton Community College's HiSET, or High School Equivalency program, a vital source of inspiration for our community. In just three years, she's aided in tripling graduation rates, opening doors to brighter futures for individuals and families. Her firm dedication extends beyond the classroom, offering flexible schedules and expanding programs to reach diverse learners. Mary Jo's impact is profound, fostering a supportive environment where students can believe in themselves. She's extended her reach into the Clinton County Jail, providing incarcerated individuals with life-changing opportunities. Her leadership is characterized by compassion and innovation, exemplified by hiring HiSET graduates as work-study students, creating a cycle of success. Beyond her professional achievements, Mary Jo is a veteran of the Army, active in community initiatives and events such as the B-rrry Scurry scholarship fundraiser and is a dedicated advocate for English language learning for Ukrainian students. She's a motivator, cheerleader, and counselor, empowering students to pursue further education. Mary Jo Nier is a true Professional Woman of Achievement, transforming lives and strengthening her community, one person at a time.

Liz Estilow - Community Woman of Achievement

ZEALOUS, COMPELLING & BENEVOLENT

Community Woman of Achievement

Liz Estilow, founder of My G.E.A.R. Outreach, is a tireless advocate for children, transformed a simple act of compassion into a thriving non-profit impacting seven counties. Recognizing the plight of children entering foster care with little to no personal belongings, she began creating overnight bags and welcome boxes, providing dignity and comfort during what can be traumatic transitions. For nearly a decade, she's distributed over 800 bags, supported families opening their homes, and ensured children experience the joy of Christmas and adoption celebrations. What started as a personal endeavor has grown into a community-supported initiative, fueled by Liz's devoted enthusiasm. Her impact goes well beyond material support, offering a sense of love and belonging to children facing challenging circumstances. Recognized as a KWQC Hometown Hero, a WQAD Jefferson Award recipient, and a Clinton Human Rights Award winner, Liz exemplifies selfless service, proving that one person's vision can create lasting positive change for countless lives.

County Woman of Achievement

Mary is a Clinton County native and exemplifies leadership and steadfast commitment throughout Clinton and the surrounding area. Rooted in strong family values, her motto is Faith, Family, and Friends. As CEO of Air Control, Inc., a third-generation business, she fosters an inclusive, supportive environment, empowering employees and breaking gender stereotypes in a traditionally male-dominated industry. Her commitment extends beyond business, encompassing extensive community and church involvement. From being a founding member of a local bank to leading United Way initiatives and hosting foreign exchange students, she's a force for positive change. Mary's invaluable work ethic and personable nature enable her to connect with diverse individuals, inspiring them to lead healthy, balanced lives. She's a passionate advocate for Clinton's growth, supporting local schools, non-profits, and economic development. A recipient of numerous awards, including Iowa Small Business Person of the Year, her greatest achievement lies in nurturing people: from raising her four sons to the family-friendly work environment. Mary's life continues to be a testament to the power of compassionate leadership, community service, and a genuine desire to make a difference.

Cindy Holliday - Religious Woman of Achievement

SELFLESS, LUMINOUS, & TRANSCENDENT

Religious Woman of Achievement

Cindy, a lifelong Clinton resident and 1968 Clinton High graduate, embodies unwavering loyalty to her family, faith, and community. With 53 years of marriage, two children, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, family is her cornerstone. For 46 years, she has worked at MercyOne North Health Plaza, demonstrating exceptional commitment. Her faith is equally paramount, as she tirelessly coordinates and schedules the liturgical volunteers for Jesus Christ, Prince of Peace Parish. Her leadership and involvement extend to other church committees, as well. Her luminous and inviting personality inspires others to become involved. Cindy's commitment shines through her countless acts of service, from donating over 10 gallons of blood and coordinating blood drives, to supporting school fundraisers and crafting for silent auctions. Her willingness to go the extra mile, whether delivering meals or extending a helping hand wherever it is needed, demonstrates her generous spirit. Cindy's life is a testament to the power of faith, service, and devotion to her community.

For 38 years, Fulton Dental Associates, a Clinton and Whiteside County dental practice, has been a keystone of community health, built on trust, compassion, and a commitment to personalized care. With University of Iowa-trained dentists and a dedicated all-female staff, they provide comprehensive services in a welcoming, family-friendly environment. Patients consistently praise their attentive, respectful approach, highlighting the skilled hygienists and the office's soothing atmosphere, complete with two friendly comfort dogs. Connie truly is a hero of YWCA Clinton and embodies selfless determination and consistent support. Her career at YWCA Clinton began as a personal trainer/fitness instructor before she quickly became invaluable in her role as Executive Assistant. She is known for her can-do attitude and exceptional follow-through. She consistently works behind the scenes, anticipating needs and ensuring every task is completed with precision and a positive spirit. Connie's quiet enthusiasm fosters a collaborative atmosphere, making her vital to everyone’s success. Though, her contributions extend beyond YWCA Clinton, including decades of service with the Wa-Tan-Ye Club, Downtown Clinton Alliance, and Music on the Avenue. A skilled organizer and craftswoman, she enhances every event and space with her talents. Connie’s commitment to empowering women and improving the Clinton community is evident in her tireless efforts and wholehearted dedication, making her a true part of the heartbeat that is YWCA Clinton.

Originally from Big Rock, Illinois, this dedicated individual graduated from St. Ambrose University and now calls Iowa her home. For the past twelve year she has been building a remarkable career at YWCA Clinton. In her current role as Operations Director/Assistant Executive Director, she's become an indispensable leader, ensuring the organization's smooth daily operation and playing a vital role in the Clinton Half Marathon each year. Family and faith are at the core of her values and leadership style, fueling her industry and perseverance. Balancing work and family, she radiates positivity, consistently exceeding expectations and empowering her team. Her solution-oriented approach, coupled with genuine compassion, fosters a supportive and collaborative environment. She sees the good in everyone and always leads with kindness and integrity. Her untiring dedication, positive attitude, and exceptional work ethic make her an invaluable asset to YWCA Clinton, inspiring those around her with her quiet strength and unshakable commitment.

Young Woman of Achievement

This high school senior is recognized for her leadership qualities in school, extracurricular activities, church and/or outside organizations.

Community Woman of Achievement

Having a history of volunteer service, this nominee serves as a leader in our community.

Religious Woman of Achievement

As one who stands out in her faith community, this nominee is an extraordinary leader and/or volunteer.

County Woman of Achievement

Meeting the criteria of the Community or Professional category, this nominee lives, works and/or volunteers in rural Clinton county or in bordering counties.

Professional Woman of Achievement

A role model for women in the workplace, this nominee stands out in her contributions to her profession.

Unsung Hero/YWCA Honoree

Having a direct association with the YWCA, this nominee exemplifies the YWCA Mission. Nominations are not gender specific.

Business of Achievement

The Business of Achievement honor is given to a business whose practices and standards embody the YWCA Clinton mission to empower women in our community. Nomination must be for a business. If you would like to nominate the business owner, we recommend nominating them under the Professional category.
